Ambassador Lorenzo Onwukwem, President/CEO of Greenbirch Technology Limited, a renowned entrepreneur, philanthropist, bridge builder, and passionate advocate of interfaith harmony and religious tolerance in Nigeria, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, Professor Usman Iliyasu Tochukwu.
The visit, which took place in the company of Professor Shehu Mailafiya Bamalli, the Barden Zazzau, was aimed at commending the Chief Imam for his exemplary, people-focused leadership since assuming office. Amb. Onyekwem lauded the Chief Imam’s consistent commitment to peacebuilding, moral guidance, inclusiveness, and national cohesion, describing his leadership as a stabilising force in a period when Nigeria urgently requires unity, empathy, and moral clarity.
Speaking during the visit, Amb. Onwukwem emphasized that Professor Usman Iliyasu Tochukwu has distinguished himself through humility, accessibility, and a deep concern for the welfare of the people, irrespective of faith, ethnicity, or social status. He noted that such leadership aligns with the values of interfaith harmony and religious tolerance, which are critical to Nigeria’s peace, security, and sustainable development.
Professor Shehu Mailafiya Bamalli, Barden Zazzau, also commended the Chief Imam for his role in fostering dialogue, mutual respect, and understanding among adherents of different faiths, stressing that religious leaders occupy a strategic position in shaping national conscience and promoting peaceful coexistence.
In his response, the Chief Imam expressed gratitude for the visit and the kind words, reaffirming his commitment to serving humanity, strengthening interfaith relations, and using his office to promote peace, justice, and compassion across Nigeria.
