The President/ Founder of the Association of Niger Delta Women for Agricultural Development Hon. Mrs Princess Efe Ekpokpe A.K.A Princess of Niger Delta has emphasized the need for women to harness available opportunities, strength, creativity and resilience to drive meaningful change in the Niger-Delta region.
She made the emphasis during a stakeholders meeting of the Association in Warri, Delta State.
The Princess of the Niger Delta reiterated the vision of the Association, to include; empowering women and transforming the Agricultural landscape of the Niger Delta, despite its delicate topography.
ln her words “our association is committed to supporting and amplifying the voices of women in Agriculture, and we are thrilled to have achieved this, as part of the journey”.
According to her, the Association will engage in productive discussions with experts, showcase remarkable achievements, unveil exciting Initiatives aimed at enhancing the economic and social well being of women in Agriculture.
The Association which started its operation in 2011, registered in 2012 has the nine Niger Delta states which are Abia, Akwa -Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo and Rivers also had its newly elected executives inaugurated on July, 20th, 2024 at PTI Conference Center, Delta State.
Highpoint of the meeting was the unveiling of the Vice President of the Association, Hon. Mary Ogodo of Delta State and the decoration of Uvwie Local Government Council Coordinator, Mrs Becky Akpovona, with an award of “the Most Beautiful Woman” of the Association, based on her outstanding performance since the inception of the Association.
