As schools across Nigeria reopen this September, the Obidient Movement Ballot Revolution has expressed deep empathy for parents grappling with the ongoing economic hardship. “The current hardship is a direct consequence of the poor policy decisions made by the present government,” said George Onuma, PRO of Obidient Movement. “This is the result of our electoral choices, and it’s time to change that.”
According to Onuma, the rising cost of living, driven by poor policy decisions of the current government, has put immense pressure on families struggling to meet basic educational needs. With inflation at record highs, school fees have surged, and the cost of school materials has skyrocketed. Fuel prices have risen significantly, making transportation more costly, further straining household budgets.
Comrade Yunus Adebayo, Publicity Secretary of Ogun Ballot Revolution, emphasize the importance of electoral participation, urging Nigerians, particularly parents, to make their voices heard through their votes in the upcoming local government elections in Ogun State. “There is no need for violence. Instead, use your power as voters to remove the incumbent APC government, whose policies have deepened the suffering of the people and ensure people with strategic innovative ideas that identify with OBIdient are supported at every level.”
“The consequences of past electoral decisions are evident in the hardships Nigerians are facing today. It’s time to vote for credible candidates who can bring real change,” Onuma stressed. “Your vote is your future. Every vote counts.”
Adebayo frame the forthcoming local government elections as a “referendum on bad governance,” urging voters to take action. “This is not a time for enduring or adapting to the hardships imposed by the current administration. Nigerians must address the bad situation in the country by using their votes. It is time to turn the tide and build a future that prioritizes the welfare of the people.”
As schools resume, the financial struggles that many parents face should serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of political accountability. The Obidient Movement Ballot Revolution calls on Nigerians and Ogun people in particular to take a stand by voting for a brighter future and ensuring free and fair elections as everyone focuses on the Electoral Commission of the state (OGSIEC) for transparency. Also, hold the ruling party accountable for the deteriorating economic conditions.
The parents and guardians are urged not to sell their votes or succumb to financial inducements but vote for credible Labour Party candidates who have demonstrated their commitment to the people
