The 2025 edition of Anambra Day, held on Saturday at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja, saw Awba Ofemmili Community emerge victorious in the cultural competition. The community scored an impressive 266 marks, showcasing its rich cultural heritage and strong community spirit.
This was made known to journalists by ESV Okoye Benjamin and Engr Charles Ekwuagana, the Ivemelumma na Nteje, Oyi, the Media Committee Chairman and the Secretary, Local Organizing Committee Monday.

The event, organized by the Anambra State Town’s People Association (ASTPA), brought together town unions and communities from Anambra State to celebrate their cultural diversity and unity. The competition evaluated participants based on criteria such as punctuality, attendance, appearance, cultural display, and payment of raffle tickets.

However, 2nd position goes to Enugwu Agidi (257 marks); 3rd position to Awkuzu (251 marks); 4th position goes to Nteje (245 marks) while; 5th Position goes to Achina, Nnewi, and Ezinifite (236 marks each). However 6th position goes to Onitsha (233 marks); 7th position goes to Obosi (229 marks); 8th position goes to Ihiala (223 marks); 9th position goes to Ekwulobia (220 marks), while 10th position goes to Umueri (219 marks).

The event’s theme, “Onulu Ube Nwanne Agbanaoso” (Always come to your brother’s rescue at the time of difficulty), emphasized the importance of unity, love, and cooperation among community members.
Sir Arinze Anadu (Nwachinemelu), President General of ASTPA, expressed deep appreciation to committee members and participating town unions for their remarkable contributions, commitment, and compliance, which made the event a resounding success.
Senator Ben Obi (Ojeligbo), Chairman of the occasion, and other dignitaries, including Chief Simon Okeke (Ochendo), a former Police Service Commission Chairman, and Chief (Mrs.) Christy Uba, Odiuko na Mba 1 of Ekwulobia, hailed the organizers and urged town unions to continue promoting the rich cultural heritage of Anambra State.
Others who hailed the organizers and urged continued peace and unity among members, host community and other states in the Federal Capital Territory were Chief Ikechukwu Nwokechi, the Igweawoboof Dusogu, Awkuzu, Chief Vitus Ofodum the Ikenga Mbawsi and
Chief Basil Okafor, the Ichie Dusogu III in Awkuzu.
The success of the 2025 Anambra Day celebration is a testament to the power of unity and cultural pride among the Anambra community. As ASTPA President General, Sir Arinze Anadu, noted: “When Ndi Anambra come together in love and purpose, we achieve great things.”
