Distinguished leaders, esteemed guests, ladies and gentlemen,
It is an honor to speak today on a subject that sits at the heart of our democratic journey, the indispensable role of BAT Vanguard in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and supporting the transformative work of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).
From its inception, BAT Vanguard, under the focused leadership of its Convener, Honourable Sola Olufin, has distinguished itself as more than a political support group. It has become a citizen-driven democratic force, a platform of civic mobilization, and a bridge between government policy and public understanding.
BAT Vanguard and the Deepening of Democracy
Across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT, BAT Vanguard has consistently championed the values of democratic engagement, building awareness, mobilizing communities, educating voters, and encouraging civic responsibility. Through town halls, grassroots advocacy, neighborhood outreaches, youth forums, and digital engagement, the organization has given ordinary Nigerians a strengthened voice in the democratic process.
Hon. Sola Olufin’s leadership has ensured that BAT Vanguard operates with credibility, structure, and purpose:
Promoting political literacy,
Defending democratic institutions,
Amplifying government programmes, and
Building the next generation of politically conscious Nigerians.
This is how nations deepen democracy, not through slogans, but through sustained civic participation driven by committed citizens.
Supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration
Since May 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has embarked on some of the boldest reforms in modern Nigerian history. From economic restructuring to fiscal discipline, from infrastructure renewal to social investment, from energy reform to enhanced regional leadership, the administration has demonstrated courage and clarity of purpose.
Under President Tinubu:
Nigeria’s finances have been placed on a more sustainable path;
Infrastructure renewal, roads, rails, ports, is accelerating across states;
The Students’ Loan Fund has opened new doors for young people;
Foreign exchange reforms are stabilizing long-term investor confidence;
Power sector interventions are opening space for renewed generation and distribution; and
Targeted social programs are being recalibrated to support vulnerable households.
These are not easy reforms. They are the kind of decisive actions necessary to build a stronger economy, a more competitive nation, and a fairer society.
But for reforms to succeed, public understanding and grassroots support are essential. This is where BAT Vanguard and its loyal members have played, and must continue to play, a pivotal role, taking government achievements to the grassroots, countering misinformation, and ensuring citizens understand the long-term benefits of these policies.
The Road to 2027 — Consolidation and Continuity
As we approach the 2027 elections, the task before BAT Vanguard becomes even more critical.
The story of President Tinubu’s reforms must be told with clarity. The progress achieved must be translated into political value. And the trust of the Nigerian people must be deepened through engagement, transparency, and consistent mobilization.
BAT Vanguard must:
Strengthen its structures and target all 774 Local Government Areas,
Expand youth and women engagement platforms,
Establish policy advocacy desks to explain government programmes,
Mobilize Nigerians based on facts, achievements, and shared national vision, and
Galvanize support that ensures President Tinubu’s re-election for continuity, stability, and consolidation.
The 2027 mandate is not just about politics, it is about completing a reform journey that has already begun to reshape the foundations of this nation.
Conclusion
In conclusion, today, as we reflect on our democratic progress and celebrate our achievements, one truth stands clear: Nigeria’s democracy thrives when its citizens participate, when its institutions are defended, and when visionary leadership is supported by informed and engaged people.
BAT Vanguard embodies this spirit.
