The residents of Bayo Local Government Area in Borno State have continued to applaud the member representing Biu, Bayo, Kwaya Kusar and Shani Federal Constituency, Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, over the construction of a 1,500-capacity mini stadium designed to engage youths positively and curb social vices in the area.

Speaking during a media tour by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), led by her National Chairman Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, the Assistant Football Association Chairman described the newly completed facility as one of the largest youth-centered projects in the constituency.

According to him, the stadium is expected to serve as a centre for football competitions, talent discovery, community events and other sporting activities for youths within Bayo and neighbouring communities.

Community leaders, sports stakeholders and youths who spoke during the visit commended the initiative, noting that the project would help reduce youth restiveness by providing a platform for meaningful engagement and recreational activities.

They stressed that the facility would encourage peace, unity and social interaction among young people while discouraging involvement in crime and other negative activities.

The stakeholders further stated that the project reflects Hon. Betara’s commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment and infrastructural transformation across the constituency.

They added that beyond the mini stadium, the federal lawmaker has continued to impact communities through educational support programmes, road construction projects, employment opportunities, humanitarian assistance and empowerment initiatives for women and youths.

Residents described Betara as a leader deeply committed to the welfare of his constituents, emphasizing that his interventions have contributed significantly to the growth and development of Bayo and other communities within the federal constituency.

Some youths in the area also expressed optimism that the stadium would help discover and nurture future sporting talents capable of representing Borno State and Nigeria in national and international competitions.

Observers believe the project further highlights the growing importance of sports as a strategic tool for youth development, peacebuilding and social inclusion, especially in communities facing economic and social challenges.
