Borno Flooding : NAWOJ Lagos Sympathize with Borno People and Journalists

Solidarity Message from the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter, to the People and Journalists of Borno State

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) Lagos State Chapter, extends her deepest sympathy to the people of Borno State, members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and especially to our brave colleagues, NAWOJ members, who have been directly or indirectly gravely affected by the recent catastrophic floods.

These floods, triggered by the collapse of the Alau Dam, have submerged thousands of homes, farmlands, the palace of the Shehu of Borno, and government facilities in the capital, leaving destruction in their wake.

In this time of crisis, we stand in unwavering solidarity with you.

In situations like this, women and children are mostly vulnerable for obvious reasons, so as you navigate these challenging days, please remember you are not alone.

And dear NAWOJIANs in the state, we see and honor the critical work you continue to do in sharing the stories of your communities, despite the personal hardships you face.

NAWOJ remains committed to providing support in any way possible. We also urge the federal government to take immediate and proactive steps to address the issues surrounding the dam’s collapse and prevent future occurrences.

Together, we will rise above this hardship. Our thoughts, prayers, and solidarity remain with you.
