Borno Flooding : NCWS Commiserates with the People of Borno, Solicits Support from FG and Donor Agencies, for Affected Communities

In a swift show of solidarity and empathy, the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), through the Acting President, Geraldine Etuk, commiserates with the government and people of Borno State over the devastating flood disaster that has ravaged the state, rendering over 414,000 families displaced.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods in this disaster,” said the Acting President of NCWS. “We are deeply concerned about the impact of this disaster on the most vulnerable members of society, particularly women and children.”

A statement sign by the Acting National President of NCWS, Geraldine Etuk, urged relevant authorities to prioritize the needs of the affected communities, especially women and children, and ensure they receive necessary support and assistance to overcome this challenging period.

“We call on the government and humanitarian agencies to provide relief materials, including food, shelter, clothing, and medical care, to the affected communities,” the acting president added. “We also appeal for long-term support to help the people of Borno State rebuild and recover from this disaster.”

The NCWS has assured the people of Borno State of their support and commitment to helping them navigate this difficult time, praying that “Almighty Allah grant the people of Borno State the strength and resilience to overcome this tragedy and prevent such occurrences in the future.”

The statement concluded with a message of solidarity, saying, “May God bless and protect Nigeria. We stand in solidarity with the people of Borno State. ” She declared.
