The Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district, Distinguished Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi has roundly applauded the Executive Governor of Ebonyi state, His Excellency, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on his passionate commitments to upholding democratic principles and the positive impacts of his people oriented policies and programmes.
Senator Nwebonyi was speaking against the background of the Public presentation of the Ebonyi State 2024 budget estimate of 204.134 billion naira for citizens input in Abakaliki on December 6, 2023 before its onward transmission to the state House of Assembly on December 7, 2023 for necessary actions.
Addressing newsmen in his office at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, Senator Nwebonyi expressed deep satisfaction with the developmental strides and people oriented leadership of Governor Nwifuru noting that he has raised the bar on all indices of development within the few months in office. In his words:
“ Although, I was not physically present at the twin presentation of the budget for public scrutiny and its subsequent official presentation to the State House of Assembly due to exigencies of duty, I’m greatly enamored with the contents and focus of the 2024 budget estimate. The budget truly reflects the wishes and aspirations of Ebonyians at this critical period.
The vibrant federal lawmaker commended the governor for his visionary leadership and unarguable roadmap for the industrialization of Ebonyi state. He pointed out that the governor has opened up rural roads, revived our comatose industries, empowered many citizens, revitalized our moribund health sectors and resuscitated our dwindling education sector. According to him:
“My governor has rightly prioritized the critical needs of Ebonyians in the area of Education, Health, Critical infrastructures, Human capital development, Ease of doing business, ICT and worker’s welfare etc. I believe that this is a very proud moment, again, to be an Ebonyian. My superlative governor is dexterously consolidating on the solid foundation laid by our irrepressible former governor and leader, Senator David Umahi.
The Senate Deputy Chief Whip assured Ebonyians that more dividends of democracy are in the offing for them. He revealed that as a federal legislator, he will continue to partner the state government in the area of making legislations that will better the lots of Ebonyians. He stated that the final measurements and survey of the Ebonyi-Benue link road has been completed and construction work will soon start as it’s been captured in the federal budget. Senator Nwebonyi called on hands to be on deck in supporting the policies and programmes of state government.
