Francis Nwifuru the Governor of Ebonyi State, wants couples to prioritise love, unity and togetherness as well as avoid third parties in their marriage This he said will enable them to enjoy the blessings of marriage and live happily.
Governor Nwifuru spoke Saturday during the wedding ceremony of his younger brother, Chibueze Nwifuru and Former Miss Mercy Nwigube held at Government House Chapel, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
He called for strong demarcation between extended families and his immediate family, stating that encroachment of extended families into one’s family will have adverse effects
“There is nothing like a brother, there is nothing like a mother, and there is nothing like the father in marriage.
“You cannot expect perfection in marriage
You must learn to be tolerant and never expect perfection.”
The Governor dissuaded the newlywed from being tightfisted in their dealings with one another, even as he warned against financial recklessness
While insisting on love as a panacea for sustainable and enduring marriages, the Governor stressed the importance of respect for each other, even as he cautioned on the over-concentration on social media, noting that such has led to divorces.
In a homily, the Rev Fr. Livinus Nweke admonished the couple to cultivate the virtues of tolerance and praying together to build a virile home.
