Ebonyi PDP Urges Public to Ignore Purported Suspension of Party Leaders

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has dismissed as false and misleading reports alleging the suspension of some of its prominent leaders, describing the claim as the handiwork of impostors and mischief makers.

A statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Anyi Ga Emeya Movement of the PDP in Ebonyi State, Mr. Moses Idika, said the attention of the party was drawn to a publication purportedly issued by a faceless individual posing as the “Publicity Secretary” of the party in the state.

According to the statement, the said publication falsely claimed that the 2023 governorship candidate of the PDP in Ebonyi State and leader of the party, High Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, his running mate, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, Rt. Hon. Solomon Onwe, the Southeast National Vice Chairman, Hon. Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu, former state legal adviser, Chief Mudi Erhenede, and Mr. Moses Idika, among others, had been suspended from the party.

Idika clarified that the PDP in Ebonyi State currently has no State Working Committee (SWC) and therefore cannot take any decision on behalf of the party.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ebonyi State currently has no State Working Committee and cannot take any decision on behalf of the party,” he stated.

He recalled that the “kangaroo congress” organized by the former Southeast Zonal Chairman of the party, Chief Ali Odefa, had since been nullified through a well-considered judgment of the Federal High Court in Abakaliki in suit no: FHC/AI/CS/183/2024, delivered on Monday, November 11, 2024.

Idika further noted that the Federal High Court, Abuja, in another judgment delivered on Friday, October 31, 2025, in suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025, reaffirmed the nullification of the purported congress and upheld the expulsion of Chief Ali Odefa from the PDP.

“We therefore call on the general public to ignore the purported suspension of leaders of the PDP Ebonyi State as the faceless individual behind the claim has no locus standi nor any form of standing in the PDP,” he added.

The statement concluded that the Ebonyi State chapter of the PDP is currently working closely with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to fix an appropriate date for the conduct of new congresses in line with the rulings of the Federal High Court.
