The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, on Wednesday distributed vehicles and motorcycles to members of his community, alongside cash gifts and bags of rice.
The empowerment event, which attracted a large crowd, took place at the commissioner’s residence in Abakaliki.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Mbam said the gesture was aimed at ensuring that his people felt the tangible impact of his presence in government as their representative.
“I will not be in government representing you and there will be no evidence of that representation,” he said.
The commissioner explained that the intervention was carried out through his MSL Foundation, which he said has consistently trained and empowered people across Ebonyi State in various skills.
“My MSL Foundation is an inspiration from God, and that is why we continue to empower humanity. As we construct roads, we also construct humanity,” Mbam stated.
According to him, the foundation has supported many beneficiaries who are now excelling in their respective trades, while also assisting others with hospital bills on a monthly basis.
Mbam said the empowerment initiative was designed to complement the efforts of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, whom he commended for what he described as massive infrastructural development across the state.
He disclosed that the Nwifuru administration has executed numerous projects, including the construction of rural roads and major urban infrastructure.
“We have touched the hinterlands of our communities, and the results are visible. For the first time in Ebonyi State, a gigantic tunnel is being constructed under the leadership of our dear governor,” he said.
Describing the tunnel as a signature project, Mbam noted that it compares with similar infrastructure in developed countries and is being handled by local engineers.
He further revealed that four roads have been constructed in Abakaliki Local Government Area alone, pledging to continue supporting the governor’s people-oriented policies.
The commissioner urged youths in the state to remain committed and supportive of the Nwifuru-led administration, assuring that his community would not be underrepresented.
He said he would continue to take the governor’s charter of needs to the grassroots to ensure inclusive development.
