History has been made within the political atmosphere of Afikpo LGA as the Immediate Past Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Abakaliki, Engr Timothy Nwachi was Sworn-in as the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on Sunday 1st September, 2024 and assumed duties as the 13th Elected Chairman of the Local Government Council.
Engr. Nwachi was sworn- in alongside other newly elected Council Chairmen in Ebonyi State in a colorful ceremony held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki. He has already begun the discharge of his duties by hitting the ground running in the Area.
As epochal as it was, the swearing in ceremony had the esteem presence of Her Excellency, the First Lady of Ebonyi State, Chief(Mrs) Mary- Maudaline Uzoamaka Nwifuru; the State Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, Former First Lady of Ebonyi State, Her Excellency, Chief(Mrs) Josephine Elechi, State Chairman of APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the State Chief Judge, Justice Elvis Ngene; National Assembly members and other top Government functionaries.
The swearing-in of the Council Chairmen in Ebonyi State was preceded with the Swearing in of the 13 Vice Chairmen with Hon(Mrs) Josephine Chinwe Nwogo successfully sworn in as the Vice Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, who is holding same office for a second term. She too has assumed duties.
Immediately after the ceremony at the Ecumenical Center, family members, friends, well wishers and stakeholders of Afikpo Local Government Area converged at the Premises of Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation, Abakaliki for a reception in honour of the new Executive Chairman and the Vice Chairman.
Addressing the guests, the Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, Engr. Timothy Nwachi thanked the people of the Area for the confidence they reposed in him and his Vice to steer the ship of the Council to excellence and promised to leverage on the People’s Charter Of Needs Agenda of His Excellency,Rt Hon Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to better the lots of the people of the Council Area especially in the areas of Peace & Security; Agriculture; Education; Health Care and Empowerment initiatives etc.
In their goodwill messages; the member Representing Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency,Rt. Hon. Iduma Nnachi Enwo Igariwey; the Chairman of Ebonyi State Founding Fathers Forum, High Chief Hyacinth Ikpor; the member representing Afikpo East State Constituency,Hon Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali; the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof Amari Omaka; former Commissioner for Solid Minerals,Engr Dr Francis Udu Orji and the Chairman of the Occasion,Chief Tony Agha all congratulated Engr. Timothy Nwachi and Hon(Mrs) Josephine Chinwe Nwogo on their emergence and successful swearing- in as Council Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively in this political dispensation and expressed confidence in the capacity of Engr. Timothy Nwachi to deliver good governance to the people of the Area.
