FCT Youths Laud Wike’s Job Creation, Police Station Projects

As the Federal Capital Territory ,FCT, experiences a surge in developmental projects under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, indigenous youths in the region are reaping the benefits of new job opportunities.

They particularly commended the FCT Minister over the12 ongoing police stations being constructed across the six area councils simultaneously, expressing the hope that it will stem the tide of insecurity across the territory.

Speaking during a project monitoring tour in the Abuja Municipal Area Council ,AMAC, the youths expressed their gratitude, highlighting how the administration’s initiatives have transformed their lives.

Many admitted that before these projects, they relied heavily on sports betting for survival.

Sharing their personal successes, the youths revealed they have been able to buy motorcycles, build houses, sponsor younger relatives’ education, and even get married—all thanks to the employment opportunities provided by the ongoing projects.

They lauded Minister Wike for bringing development to their communities and for ensuring that locals benefit through direct employment or material supply contracts.

Similarly, indigenous contractors handling the construction of police stations also expressed appreciation for the minister’s trust and confidence in their capabilities.

The architect overseeing one of such project in Saburi, a community in AMAC, Nuhu Musa, who revealed that the construction which began on November 19 had attained 70% completion within the last 3 months, said the initiative has also imparted on the locals economy.

“We have a program of work. The schedule of work submitted was for one year, but we plan to be done in six months. If today marks the third month, it means we have roughly three months more, which is too much for us to finish up this project.”

A resident of Saburi 1, Prince Yahaya Mohammed who was employed as a supervisor in one of the projects expressed his excitement about the employment opportunities created.

“I am very happy that I have been employed here as a supervisor. I’m from this village, Saburi 1.Through this project, many people from this village have been employed, and they now have a source to earn a living,” he said.

On his part, the Village Head of Saburi, Alhaji Muhammad Yamawo, lauded the FCT Administration for the police station project and other infrastructure developments in the area.

“We have suffered a lot due to the absence of a good road in Saburi, but we are happy that Wike has finally wiped our tears,” Yamawo said.

Meanhile, the FCTA Director of Security Services ,Adamu Gwari, has explained that the police station project is part of the administration’s broader strategy to improve security across the FCT.

According to him, from the time the Minister visited the Area Councils till date, “every blessed month, our statistical information about insecurity is dropping. We can beat our chest to say that security has greatly improved beyond even our expectations”

He noted that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Woke,prioritizes security of lives and property, hence his zeal in executing security infrastructures aimed at bringing security closer to FCT residents.
