Former Igbo journalists Chairman, Abba -Eku’s Sister dies, funeral begins Jan 12

The sister of former Chairman, Association of Igbo Media Practitioners (AIMP), Abuja AKA Ogene Ndigbo, Abbanobi-Eku Onyeka’s Junior sister has died. Mrs. Catherine Onoh, nee Abbanobi -Eku, who was born in 1970, died on 27 August, 2025 at 55..

Her brother, Abbanobi-Eku Onyeka, confirmed Kate’s passing and announced the funeral arrangements, which will begin from January 12, 2026.

Kate, as she was fondly called was born in the family of Abbanobi -Eku, Akwuoba Village, Ogbunka, and married into the Onoh family in Umuchukwu, all in Orumba South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

A dedicated educationalist, politician, and woman leader, Kate contributed significantly to community development and unity in Orumba South.

Kate’s commitment to community service and politics earned her respect and admiration in Ogbunka and beyond.

As a Christian, Kate was a devoted member of her church and inspired many with her faith and values.

She is survived by her brother, sisters, cousins, son, sisters-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, who mourn her passing.

Abbanobi-Eku Onyeka invites relations, friends, and community members to join in celebrating Kate’s life and making her funeral a befitting tribute.

The funeral ceremony will be a significant event in Ogbunka, reflecting Kate’s impact on her community.
