By Jasmine Okogerie and Sharon Akuboh, Opinion

As Taraba State gradually approaches another electoral cycle, one name continues to resonate across the state’s sixteen local government areas—Governor Agbu Kefas. Since assuming office, Governor Kefas has pursued an ambitious agenda centred on security, quality education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure and good governance.

His administration’s bold reforms, particularly the introduction of free education in public primary and secondary schools, have restored hope to thousands of families while increasing access to learning for children across the state.

The Governor has also prioritised road construction, rural development and improved healthcare delivery, bringing government closer to communities that had long felt neglected.

Through investments in agriculture, support for small businesses and initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people, the administration has continued to lay the foundation for sustainable economic growth. His commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusive governance has further strengthened public confidence in the administration.

In the area of peace and security, Governor Kefas has consistently worked with security agencies, traditional rulers and community stakeholders to address security challenges and promote peaceful coexistence. His administration’s efforts towards attracting investment, encouraging tourism and improving the state’s business environment have positioned Taraba as an emerging destination for economic opportunities.

Supporters of Governor Kefas argue that the developmental strides recorded within a relatively short period demonstrate that his administration deserves continuity. They believe that returning him to the Government House would enable him to consolidate ongoing projects, complete critical infrastructure and deepen reforms already yielding positive results.

According to them, continuity will ensure that the gains achieved in education, healthcare, agriculture, security and economic development are sustained for the benefit of present and future generations.

Weekenders magazine wishes him the very best in his quest.
