The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has been honoured with an award at a high-level stakeholders’ engagement on advancing social protection through the National Social Register, held at Eko Hotels, Lagos.
Governor Bago, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, received the award from the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) in recognition of his “outstanding leadership in revolutionising social safety nets, driving inclusive development, and transforming Niger State into a hub of prosperity and growth.”

The event, organised by NASSCO, brought together policymakers, development partners, and state leaders to deliberate on strengthening planning tools for building a more resilient Nigeria. Among the dignitaries present were the Governors of Nasarawa and Katsina States, represented by their Deputies, as well as the Deputy Governor of Borno State.
In his remarks after receiving the award, Deputy Governor Garba reaffirmed the Bago administration’s commitment to strengthening social protection systems, promoting inclusive development, and deepening collaboration with stakeholders to build a resilient and prosperous Nigeria.
