Group Urges President Tinubu to be Cautious Over NNPCL CEO Resignation Rumors

By Temi Jemiriayegbe

A Civil Liberty Organisation known as Concerned Citizens of Nigeria has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be cautious in his decision-making as the 2027 general elections approach. The group expressed concern over rumors surrounding the resignation of Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

According to the group, the rumors, if not properly managed, could have far-reaching implications for the President’s administration and the country’s stability. They emphasized the need for the President to be mindful of the potential consequences of his actions and decisions, particularly in the context of the upcoming elections.

The Concerned Citizens of Nigeria praised the appointment of Bayo Ojulari, describing it as a strategic move that can bring about national unity and cohesion. They noted that Ojulari’s wealth of experience in the oil and gas sector, garnered from over 24 years of working with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), would be invaluable to the NNPC.

The group warned against the potential influence of sycophants and opposition party members who may advise the President on matters that could affect specific geo-political regions. They cautioned that such advice could lead to disgruntlement and reduced votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Furthermore, the group urged the President’s administration to take measures to prevent discriminatory rumors that could cause sectional or sub-regional dissatisfaction and uproar. This, they noted, is particularly important as the African Democratic Party (ADC) forms a coalition, which could potentially exploit such sentiments for political gain.

The Concerned Citizens of Nigeria expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and vision for the country. They urged him to continue leading with purpose and vision, being mindful of the potential implications of certain decisions on the 2027 general elections.

In conclusion, the group reiterated their commitment to supporting the President’s administration and promoting national unity and stability. They called on all Nigerians to join hands in building a brighter future for the country, and to shun divisive and discriminatory tendencies that could undermine the nation’s progress.

The statement was jointly signed by Him Robert Terfa Swem, the Chairman of the Concerned Citizens, and Comrade Emmanuel Fateman the Secretary of the group.
