The construction of a multi-million naira market, which will occupy 16 hectares of land in Ivo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State has been flagged-off.
The modern market which was approved by the state Governor Francis Nwifuru
It would boost economic activities in the mineral-rich community.
Commercial banks, schools, hospitals and police stations will be in the market when completed.
It has only a small market, Eke Ishiagu, located in the heart of the town, which would be relocated after the construction of the modern market.

Represented by Commissioner for Market Development and Parks, Professor Ajuka Nwogo, they noted that the market would be an industrial commerce hub when completed and urged the people to support the project.
He commended the Chairman of the local government, Emmanuel Ajah for acquiring and fencing the land for the project.
He noted that the current Eke Ishiagu market will pave the way for the market as it can no longer serve the people.
The Governor commended the Chairman of the local government for tackling the incidences of insecurity in the community.

He noted that everything needed to actualize the project had been put in place and commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for approving funds for the construction of the market.
He called on the people of the area to ensure adequate security for those who will be constructing the project and the materials.
