In a significant move aimed at promoting productivity across various sectors, the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Honourable Barrister Nkiruka Chidubem Onyejeocha, inaugurated the National Productivity Order of Merit Award (NPOMA) Committee on Tuesday, 30th April, 2024. The event took place at the Honourable Minister’s conference room in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Federal Secretariat, Abuja.
The NPOMA Committee, composed of distinguished individuals from diverse economic backgrounds, brings together a mix of public and private sector experts renowned for their integrity and commitment to national development. Among the organizations represented in the Committee are the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria (MAN), as well as representatives from the Senate, House of Representatives, Media, Creative Sector, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Mines & Agriculture (NACCIMA), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and other notable figures in their respective fields.
The Committee, as formally inaugurated, consists of prominent members chaired by Eze Duruiheoma, SAN. Other key members include Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar, Permanent Secretary of the FML&E, Mr. Victor Eburajolo from Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Hon Bulus Sulisma, nominee of the Chairman, Senate Committee on Labour and Employment, Elder Jacob Oluwarotimi Ogidigbo, nominated by the Chairman, House Committee on Labour and Employment, Mr Ifiok Bassey Abia, representing the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Alhaji Farouk Suleiman, representing Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA),
Niran Ade-Onojobi, representing the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Abdullahi Yahya SAN, representing Nigerian Bar Association, Dere Gaffar, representing the Creative Sector, Dr Nasir Olaitan Raji-Mustapha, Director-General, NPC, Hajia Maimuna Musa Adaji, who serves as the Secretary of the Committee, and Mr Victor Ainoko, the rapporteur.
Notable personalities present at the inauguration ceremony included Honourable Adegboyega Adefarati, Chairman of the House Committee on Labour and Employment, as well as some directors from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and the National Productivity Centre.
The establishment of the NPOMA Committee signifies a renewed commitment to enhancing productivity and recognizing outstanding contributions to economic development in Nigeria.
