Meet Amarachi Agbo a UNN Graduate Who just Earned a 1st Class in Economics

Exceedingly proud to hear that Amarachi Jennifer Agbo (the young woman in the photo below) just earned a 1st Class in Economics at the University of Nigeria (UNN). She emerged the Best graduating student with a GPA of 4.9/5, thus securing a spot as one of the elite stars in the university’s history.

This is an impressive accomplishment anywhere, but more so in a country where philistinic values often trump academic achievement and intellectual excellence.

I met Amarachi about a year ago when I gave a talk in Awka as a guest of the Human Rights Empowerment Project (HREP). I was profoundly impressed by her questions and comments at the event.

Afterwards, Francis Moneke, a prominent lawyer and HREP’s founder, introduced Amarachi to me. He remarked that she was easily the most consistent user of HREP’s library in Awka.

Please join me in celebrating Amarachi, and wishing her a future of exemplary academic success and service to humanity.
