Military Assault/Communal Killings : Amasiri Ekuma Ubaghala Autonomous Community Youths, Urge Gov Nwifuru to Intervene

Urgent Appeal for Intervention in the Unlawful Actions of Soldiers in Amasiri

Your Excellency,

We, the youths of Amasiri, write to you with heavy hearts and a deep sense of urgency over the ongoing crisis between Amasiri and the Edda people. While we appreciate the government’s efforts to restore peace, we are alarmed by the conduct of soldiers deployed to our community, which has escalated fear and suffering among innocent residents.

Reports reaching us indicate that soldiers are currently moving through Amasiri, chasing everyone indoors, and forcefully shutting down all business activities. This has brought our daily lives to a standstill, inflicting hardship on our people who depend on their daily earnings for survival.

Most distressing is the report that soldiers shot an innocent man at Ihie Amasiri—a harmless citizen simply sitting in his veranda. This act of brutality is unacceptable and has heightened tension in our community. We fear that if this situation is not urgently addressed, it may lead to further loss of lives and properties.

We humbly plead with your government to:

  1. Immediately call the soldiers to order and investigate the shooting of the innocent man at Ihie Amasiri.
  2. Ensure the protection of lives and properties in Amasiri, as many residents now live in fear.
  3. Facilitate a swift and lasting resolution to the conflict between Ndukwe community and the Edda people to prevent further escalation.

Your Excellency, we trust in your leadership and commitment to the welfare of all citizens of Ebonyi State. We appeal to you to act swiftly to save our community from further suffering.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter.

Sincerely,
Amasiri Youths
