Rivers State Commissioner for Sports Development ,Barr. Christopher Green said plans are underway for an effective and efficient outing for Team Rivers in the forthcoming National Sport Festival.
Barr. Green who stated this in an interview, said Governor Siminalayi Fubara has directed the technical department of the sports council to ensure that all facilities are in shape to enable sportsmen and athletes prepare ahead of the national festival.

According to him, despite the date for the festival is indefinite, plans are also on top gear to organise a state sports festival and secondary school games to enable youths annex fresh talent, noting that he believes in catching them young and growing through the ranks.
Barr. Green stressed that amid distractions, Governor Fubara is focused and determined in performing his responsibilities as Governor by ensuring the twenty three Local Government Areas in the state have a fair share in terms of development .
Speaking on the performance of Team Nigeria in the ongoing Olympics ,the Commissioner commended the Federal Government and Minister of Sport, Mr John Eno for ensuring a proper preparation for the Nigeria contingents, noting that the group was tough.
He explained that while on his visit to the camp in Germany, he confirmed that the Nigeria contingents was well taken care of in terms of welfare and payment of allowances, which also influence the performance of the Nigeria female football team.
