The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has commended the Federal Government and Nigeria’s security agencies for the successful rescue of the schoolgirls and their teachers abducted in Oyo State, describing the operation as a major boost to national security and public confidence.
In a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim, the Association expressed profound relief and joy over the safe return of the victims, while applauding the coordinated efforts that led to the successful rescue.

NAWOJ commended the unwavering commitment of the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the successful operation reflects the administration’s determination to safeguard the lives and welfare of Nigerians.
The Association also paid glowing tribute to the Nigerian Armed Forces—including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force—as well as the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security and intelligence agencies for their professionalism, resilience and synergy in securing the victims’ release.
According to Comrade Ibrahim, the successful rescue underscores the importance of collaboration among security institutions in addressing the country’s security challenges.
NAWOJ further commended the Governor of Oyo State for his leadership, cooperation and support throughout the rescue operation, noting that the partnership between the Federal Government, the state government and security agencies demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated action in combating insecurity.
The Association described the rescue as a significant victory for Nigeria, saying it has renewed hope among citizens, strengthened confidence in the nation’s security architecture and reaffirmed the growing capacity and resolve of the country’s security forces to protect lives and communities.
While celebrating the safe return of the victims, NAWOJ expressed sympathy to the rescued schoolgirls, their teachers and their families for the traumatic experience they endured, praying for their speedy physical, emotional and psychological recovery.
The Association also called on government at all levels to sustain proactive measures aimed at strengthening security, particularly around schools and other learning institutions, to ensure they remain safe environments for teaching and learning.
Reaffirming its support for efforts to combat insecurity, NAWOJ saluted the courage, patriotism and sacrifices of Nigeria’s military personnel and security operatives, urging Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with credible information that will aid the fight against crime.
The Association expressed optimism that through sustained collaboration, vigilance and collective responsibility, Nigeria would continue to make progress towards becoming a safer and more secure nation.
