The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, has reaffirmed its commitment to forging strategic partnerships with diplomatic missions in Nigeria to promote women’s empowerment, gender inclusion, and increased female participation in leadership and governance.

This position was highlighted during a luncheon hosted by the Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria, Sanna Selin, in honour of female ambassadors currently serving in the country. The event brought together key stakeholders, including the Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT Chapter, Comrade Bassey Ita-Ikpang, and members of the association.
The high-level engagement provided a platform for networking, experience sharing, and meaningful dialogue on critical issues affecting women and girls. Discussions also explored opportunities for sustained collaboration between NAWOJ and diplomatic missions in advancing gender-responsive initiatives.
Female ambassadors from Germany, Sweden, Botswana, Cuba, and other countries participated in the discussions, which focused on women’s economic empowerment, climate resilience, social protection, political participation, and the urgent need to address gender-based violence.
If you want it shorter, more advocacy-driven, or adjusted for a press release vs. news report, say the word and I’ll tweak it.
