The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, remains Nigeria’s leading opposition platform, stressing that his major interest is the survival, stability, and success of the party nationwide.
Wike made the declaration on Monday at the 105th National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the PDP in Abuja, where he also said he is interested in all activities of the Oyo State chapter of the party as part of efforts to reposition the PDP ahead of future elections.

Speaking on the party’s internal crisis, Wike dismissed claims of intimidation, insisting that no individual or group can threaten committed party members, adding that the party’s legal battles have collapsed and that the Caretaker Committee must be recognised.
He said the PDP is waiting for clear directives from the Caretaker Committee, especially on the conduct of overdue congresses, which he described as crucial steps towards organising a credible National Convention.
The FCT Minister urged party members to return to the grassroots and rebuild the PDP from the wards and polling units, warning that the party should not be treated as a charity organisation, while reaffirming that the PDP remains strong and capable of reclaiming its position.
The party also set March 28-29 for it’s National Convention in Abuja.
