The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) announced the commencement of implementation activities under its strategic collaboration with PLAN International Nigeria, following the successful signing of a partnership agreement between both organizations last year.

The partnership, which is aimed at strengthening advocacy, community engagement, and communication around issues affecting women, girls, and vulnerable groups, has officially moved into the implementation stage with onboarding and stakeholder engagement activities already underway across selected states.

As part of the collaboration, PLAN International Nigeria, through the ASPIRE Project, finalized the engagement of 12 Women Rights Organizations (WROs), comprising 7 in Bauchi State and 5 in Sokoto State.

To formally commence activities, onboarding programmes were organized in the two states with active participation from NAWOJ representatives.

At the Sokoto centre, NAWOJ was represented by Rabi Muhammed Gwadabawa, Vice President Zone A, alongside Aisha Madawaki, Chairperson of NAWOJ Sokoto State Chapter.

Similarly, at the Bauchi centre, Hauwa Idris Shall, Secretary Zone E, and Rashida Yusuf, Chairperson of NAWOJ Bauchi State Chapter, represented the Association.

The onboarding engagements were designed to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, foster effective communication strategies, and enhance partnerships with Women Rights Organizations toward achieving the objectives of the project.

NAWOJ leadership described the collaboration as a significant step toward deepening partnerships between media professionals and development organizations in promoting gender inclusion, advocacy, and sustainable community development.

The Association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that amplify the voices of women and vulnerable groups while promoting impactful journalism and social transformation across Nigeria.
