NCWS Celebrates Dame Pauline Tallen as Street Named in Her Honour at FHFL Social Housing Project Commissioning
The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Nigeria has congratulated former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, on the well-deserved honour of having a street named after her during the commissioning of the Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) Pilot Social Housing Project at Rigachikun, Kaduna State.
The recognition came during the official commissioning ceremony of the housing project, held on November 3, 2025, under the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS). The event marked a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering inclusive and affordable housing for vulnerable Nigerians.
Representing the National President of NCWS, Princess Edna D.D Azura, at the event, the Kaduna State NCWS President, Barrister Zainab Hassan, conveyed the organisation’s goodwill message and heartfelt appreciation to the government and FHFL for their commitment to social welfare and empowerment through housing initiatives.
Princess Azura, in her message, lauded the initiative as “a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment to leveraging housing as a catalyst for social inclusion, economic empowerment, and the creation of resilient communities.”
She also applauded President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for prioritising housing development under his Renewed Hope Agenda, and commended Dame Pauline Tallen for her enduring legacy in advancing the cause of women and widows in Nigeria.
“The National Council of Women Societies warmly congratulates Dame Pauline Tallen for the honour of having a street named after her. This gesture reflects her lifelong dedication to women’s empowerment, dignity, and social justice. Her name etched in this community stands as a symbol of resilience, compassion, and service to humanity,” Princess Azura said.
The FHFL Pilot Social Housing Project, comprising 100 energy-efficient two-bedroom bungalows, is designed to benefit widows and low-income families, aligning with the NCWS’s long-standing advocacy for decent and affordable housing as a fundamental human right.
Princess Azura called on stakeholders to sustain and replicate such projects nationwide, ensuring that vulnerable groups, especially women and widows continue to benefit from inclusive national development programs.
“Let us continue to build a Nigeria where every citizen has access to decent and affordable housing, and where women and girls can thrive and reach their full potential,” she added.
The event drew dignitaries, community leaders, women advocates, and beneficiaries, all of whom hailed the project as a beacon of hope and a practical step toward social and economic inclusion for all Nigerians.
