NCWS National President Hails Gen. Buba Marwa On His Reappointment As NDLEA Boss

The National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) Nigeria has congratulated Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd) on his reappointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for another five-year term.

In a statement issued by the National President of NCWS, Princess Edna D.D. Azura, the council described Marwa’s renewed appointment as “well-deserved and a testament to his exceptional leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria from the scourge of drug trafficking and substance abuse.”

Princess Azura noted that since assuming office in 2021, Gen. Marwa has “demonstrated rare courage and strategic brilliance,” leading to historic drug seizures, the arrest of thousands of offenders, and the expansion of nationwide campaigns against drug abuse. Particularly among youth and vulnerable populations.

She commended President Tinubu for sustaining confidence in Marwa’s leadership, adding that the decision reflects the administration’s resolve to strengthen national security and protect the future of Nigerian youths.

According to Princess Azura, “General Marwa’s reappointment is a victory for all Nigerians who desire a safer, healthier society. His results-driven approach at the NDLEA continues to inspire hope, especially in our collective fight to curb drug abuse among our young people. The NCWS stands firmly with him and pledges continued support for all initiatives aimed at promoting drug-free communities across the country.”

She further urged the NDLEA Chairman to sustain the momentum and continue setting new benchmarks in the agency’s operations.

Princess Azura reaffirmed that NCWS, as the foremost umbrella body for women’s groups in Nigeria, remains committed to working closely with relevant agencies to intensify advocacy, sensitization, and rehabilitation efforts in the fight against drug abuse.
