NCWS Nigeria Condemns Attack on Govt Girls Secondary School Kebbi State, Calls for Immediate Rescue of Abducted Students

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Nigeria, under the leadership of its National President, Princess Edna D. D. Azura strongly condemns the recent attack on the Government Girls Secondary School in Kebbi State, which resulted in the tragic abduction of innocent schoolgirls.

We are deeply saddened and outraged that, once again, our girls—whose only pursuit is education and a brighter future—have become victims of violent criminality. This heartbreaking incident is a painful reminder of the recurring assaults on female students across the country, despite previous national trauma from similar abductions that have shaken our collective conscience.

NCWS Nigeria views this act as an attack not only on the children and their families but also as a direct assault on the right of the Nigerian girl‑child to safety, education, and equal opportunity. It undermines the nation’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and protect our youth.

Therefore, NCWS Nigeria demands:

  1. The immediate and unconditional rescue of all abducted students in line with the directives of the president.
  2. A thorough, transparent investigation to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.
  3. Enhanced security measures for all schools, especially those in vulnerable regions.
  4. Support and counselling services for the victims and their families.

We stand in solidarity with the affected families, the people of Kebbi State, and all Nigerians who cherish the right to education. The government must act swiftly to ensure that such atrocities are never repeated.
