Niger Assembly Calls for Quick intervention for Kwatschi and Nasarawa flood Victims

Niger state House of Assembly has called on the arm of government as a matter of urgency provide immediate intervention for victims of flooding in kwatachi sabon pegi in mashegu and Nasarawa Kainji in Magama local government area.

These was the resolution reached at the Plenary of the House on Tuesday 24 September, 2024 under a matter of urgent public importance raised by Hon. Al Hassan Isah member representing Mashegu Constituency.

Al Hassan Isah informed the House that on 29th August, 2024 Kwatacha and Nasarawa Kainji communities witnessed heavy downfall, adding that this resulted in the destruction of over 80 Houses, hundreds of hectares of farm land washed away and three vehicles.

He expressed worried as that means of livelihood such as several fish ponds, rice farms and landed properties been destroyed.

Further, he explained as the bridge which connect Mashegu,Magama, Borgu, Agwara up to Kaiama in kwara state have been destroyed and therefore needs urgent repairs.

However, calling on the state government to mobilize it’s manpower and resources to assist the affected victims not to render them homeless for long without any source of income .
