NIMC DG Earns Outstanding Performance Award for Transforming Nigeria’s Digital Identity Sector

Abuja, Nigeria – The Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Dr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has been recognized for her exceptional performance in transforming Nigeria’s digital identity landscape. She received the Outstanding Performance in Public Service Award at the African Iconic Women Recognition Awards 2025.

Under Dr. Coker-Odusote’s leadership, NIMC has achieved significant milestones, including a 49% increase in National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment, from 72.7 million in January 2022 to over 122 million as of July 2025. Her innovative and transformational leadership style has positioned NIMC as a frontline player in Africa’s identity sector.

Dr. Coker-Odusote’s 5-point agenda, aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Mandate, has driven unprecedented growth in Nigeria’s digital identity sector. The commission has introduced NIN Authentication (NINAuth), a secure solution for verifying identities, giving individuals control over their data and ensuring seamless interactions with government agencies.

The NIMC DG has also prioritized staff welfare, implementing a 25/35% salary adjustment for staff, which has enhanced morale and productivity within the commission. Her leadership has transformed Nigeria’s digital identity landscape, promoting inclusive and secure identity services.

The African Iconic Women Recognition Awards 2025 acknowledged Dr. Coker-Odusote’s dedication to public service and her outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s digital identity sector. Her achievements serve as a testament to her commitment to excellence and her vision for a more secure and inclusive identity system.
