NUJ FCT Elections : National Body Upholds Membership of JCI Senator Umoru and Rt Odugbo on the Credentials Committee

The Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ) National Secretariat, has trashed the petition against the chairman of the Credential Committee, JCI Senator Henry Umoru and Rt Sarah Odugbo for the Federal Capital Territory Council election slated for Saturday, November 8th, 2024.

The response was sequel to a petition written by Osaretin Osadebamwen, Johnchuks Onuanyim and Victorson Agbenson appealing to the NUJ national body to disqualify them as members of the Credential Committee.

According to the National Secretary, Achike Chude in a release he signed stated that the petition sent by the petitioners has no substance as to disqualify those the accused and lacked merit.

He said, ” careful investigation of the complaints made against the duo did not produce any evidence to substantiate the allegation against them and the subsequent call for their disqualification from the Credential Committee set up to supervise the FCT Council election. The allegation against them were without merit”.

“Consequently, in reiteration of our earlier direction, JCI Senator Henry Umoru, Rt Sarah Odugbo and Comrade Elizabeth Christopher Atteh are to resume their duties unhindered as members of the Credential Committee.

“Members of the council are however advised to kindly assist them in this process with enabling environment to make the exercise a success”, he declared.
