The Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah, OON, has moved a Motion of Urgent Public Importance in the House of Representatives, demanding the immediate return of contractors to the abandoned Abakaliki Ikwo Oferekpe Obubara Roads.
Ogah warned that the stalled project originally awarded by the Ebonyi State Government and now taken over by the Federal Government has claimed over 25 lives, worsened insecurity, and crippled economic activities in adjoining communities.

He described the road as a dangerous death trap and urged the Federal Ministry of Works to mobilize contractors back to site without delay.
The House resolved to observe a minute’s silence for victims, commend the Federal Government and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for ongoing infrastructure efforts, and mandate its Committees on Works and Legislative Compliance to ensure strict oversight and full project completion.
Ogah also applauded the Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. David Nweze Umahi, for his commitment to addressing failed roads nationwide.
