FCT- ERC Concludes 2025 Annual Sports with Colourful Road Walk .

The FCT Education Resource Centre (ERC) in its sustained advocacy for staff well-being and greater productivity in the workplace, kick-started the third edition of its Annual Sports Competition with a line-up of activities that culminated in a colourful Road Walk.

Speaking during the yearly competition award ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Education Secretariat, Mrs Joy Okeke said activities like this are vital staff welfare and institutional cohesion, she congratulated the ERC for sustaining this initiative over the years noting that when staff are healthy and united, service delivery is impactful .

Earlier in her opening speech, the Director, ERC, Dr. Neemat Daud Abdulrahim said the competition has grown into a strategic staff engagement initiative designed to enhance physical fitness and mental well being of staff. It also strengthen team spirit and social bonding across divisions as well as boost motivation while fostering a healthier work life balance among staff through healthy competition.

She explained that the centre recognized its leadership heritage, the yearly competition was named after the former directors of the Centre. learning hub ,this is to honour history while inspiring staff to continue to uphold excellence.

She added that the centre will not relent in its efforts to continue to introduce innovative and sustainable programmes that enhance professionalism and productivity.

She announced a new award category of the Most Valuable Athlete to further encourage participation.

In their various remarks ,Dr Emmanuel Aina, former director of the centre and Mr Adamu Hashimu, Director ,School Sports, Education Secretariat expressed their delight in the community of the legacy adding that sports instill discipline, teamwork and leadership skills which are important in the workplace,they commended the ERC for their unity and enthusiasm.

The road walk activities commenced from the ERC premises where they moved through major routes within Zone 7, Wuse, drawing applause from residents and passersby. Staff displayed vibrant energy, and enthusiasm throughout the exercise. The walk was followed by aerobics, warm-down sessions, and refreshments.

The highlight of the event is presentation of
award to the various winners which include Ismaila Tsiga House emerging as 1st Position,the second position goes to Rebecca Alu Uganden House and Emmanuel Aina House took 3rd Position other winners include Funke Olorunlona House took the 4th Place while Ramatu Awwal-Ibrahim House took 5th position.

The colourful event which since it’s introduction has significantly contributed to improved workplace morale, better social cohesion and increased productivity was well attended by Senior Officials across the FCT and Kellogg’s makers of Cornflakes to refresh the Staff appetite while reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to Staff welfare and organizational excellence.
