Perm Sec Water Resources reassure Nigerlites of Adequate and portable Water Supply

Niger State permanent secretary for water resources and dem , Akilu Musa has reassures Nigerlites of the ministry’s readiness in supplying adequate water to Minna and its environs.

Akilu stated this while responding to questions from journalist in his office on Wednesday.

He said some of the reasons affecting the water sector and it’s inadequate supply to its consumers are numerous, ranging from construction activities wetin the state capital ( fixing of damage pipes and relocating some), vandalism and energy (AEDC).

The Pem sec highlight the need for proper power supply from the AEDC to enable adequate water supply. Adding that with the epileptic electricity supply, the sector will find it difficult to reach the needs of the masses.

He said although the Ministry and the AEDC now have an understanding, the Governor Umar Mohammed Bago is not relenting in his effort.

Akilu, stated that the governor have contacted Arab contractors to decile some of the dams in the state whose equipments have become insolent.

He also said that the ministry has drawn an action plan which includes; short, mid term and long term plan. Some of the plans, Akilu said it will involve creating Changchaga basin dam, Lenfa dam which will supply water to Minna, Paiko and Lapai and also aid the irrigation farmers.
