The Ebonyi State Police Command has presented cheques totaling ₦24,398,763.15 to 32 beneficiaries, who are next of kin to deceased police officers that served in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya, made the presentation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, as part of the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme benefits.

Speaking during the presentation at the command headquarters in Abakaliki, the Commissioner commiserated with the bereaved families and urged them to use the funds wisely to support their dependents and preserve the legacies of their loved ones.
She noted that the gesture demonstrates the IGP’s continued concern for the welfare of officers and their families, especially those who died in active service.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Nwaeze Okechukwu thanked the Inspector-General of Police for his sustained support and prayed for divine protection upon serving officers. He assured that the beneficiaries would utilize the money judiciously to improve their family livelihoods.
The police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of personnel and their families.
