President Tinubu gets thumbs up in Open Letter from Onabis

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been given thumbs up on the handling of the crisis between herders and farmers in parts of the country.

Francis Onabis, a Nigerian politician based abroad in an open letter to the president made available to newsmen in Abuja, commended the president on tracing the roots causes being competition, lack of proper grazing infrastructure and failure to modernize animal husbandry practice.

He said past administrations made attempts which were not successful at establishing ranching zones.
Onabis, however advised the phase out of open grazing and instead create a legal framework for land use in the country.

According to him, there should be a local peace committee among farmers and herders to mediate on possible infractions on any existing laws within any ranching zones.

Cattle herders – farmers crisis he maintains should not be allowed to be a time bomb. Onabis, salutes the courage of the president for being resolute in decision making and making sure the rights of the farmers as well as that of the herders are respected.
