As preparations intensify for the April 2025 WAEC and NECO Senior Secondary School examinations, the Principal and Director of Model Secondary School, Maitama,Dr Judith Olure has called on Parents and Guardians to prioritize their wards’ academic success.
Speaking during an interactive meeting with parents of SS3 students, the Principal emphasized the critical role of Parental involvement in ensuring students remain focused on their studies, revision, and lessons while maintaining a healthy mental state.

She highlighted that academic success requires not just effort in studies but also proper nutrition, a sound mind, and a well-structured study plan. She urged Parents to create a supportive home environment that fosters concentration and minimizes distractions.
Other school officials who spoke cautioned against excessive pressure that could lead to anxiety, stressing the importance of balancing study with adequate rest. They encouraged Parents to engage their children in open discussions about their academic progress, provide moral and emotional support, and ensure timely registration for WAEC. They also warned against examination malpractice, reaffirming the school’s commitment to upholding examination rules and regulations.

Speaking further, Parents were advised to closely monitor their wards’ behavior during this crucial period, be vigilant against negative peer influences, and address any signs of misconduct early.
The school reiterated that it has not requested any graduation fees, urging students to focus solely on their academics.
In response, Parents commended the school management for its dedication to discipline and holistic education. They pledged their cooperation in fostering responsible behavior at home to eliminate negative influences and bullying, reinforcing the shared responsibility of ensuring quality education.
The interactive session provided a valuable platform for parents and teachers to discuss strategies for helping students achieve outstanding results, underscoring the school’s commitment to academic excellence.
