President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the Lot 2 Water Supply Project in Karu Satellite Town, declaring that the era of abandoned projects in satellite communities is over.

President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashmir Shettima said the Karu Water Project is the second phase of the water supply scheme completed by the Renewed Hope Administration to complement the Greater Abuja Water Project, which was commissioned along Airport Road last year.

The Karu Water Project is the second phase of the water supply scheme completed by the Renewed Hope Administration to complement the Greater Abuja Water Project, which was commissioned along Airport Road last year.

The newly commissioned Lot 2 Water Project was conceived to serve the Karu, Kurudu, Jikwoyi, and Karshi axis, which had previously been underserved.

The President also assured residents that his administration would continue to build, invest in, and transform the Federal Capital Territory into a world-class city that every Nigerian would be proud of.

“When we launched the Renewed Hope Agenda, we made a sacred covenant with the Nigerian people. We promised that governance would no longer be a theoretical exercise confined to the boardrooms of the city centres while our people in the periphery thirsted for basic amenities. We promised a government that listens, a government that plans, and crucially, a government that delivers.

“Just about a year ago, when we commissioned the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project, I stood before the nation and gave a strict directive. I said the metropolitan loops must not end in the elite districts. They must stretch. They must expand into our satellite towns where the heartbeat of Abuja’s working-class population truly resides.”

Earlier, the Minister of the FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike, said the timely completion of the Karu Water Project demonstrated the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises, describing it as “a promise made and a promise kept.”

Wike, who observed that the people of Karu Community were happy that the Renewed Hope Agenda was yielding tangible results, urged them to reciprocate President Tinubu’s goodwill at the appropriate time.

He also used the opportunity to congratulate President Tinubu on the victory of the APC in the recently concluded State senatorial by-election across the country, and commended the PDP for playing the role of a vibrant opposition party.

In a vote of thanks, the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, described the inauguration of the Water Supply Network to Karu Satellite Town as a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the living conditions of residents through the provision of critical infrastructure.

Mahmoud said the project represents the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration of the people and a practical demonstration of good governance under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

She noted that the water project would improve public health, enhance sanitation, support economic activities, and ease the burden on families who have endured years of inadequate access to potable water.

The Minister urged residents to take ownership of the facility by protecting and maintaining it to guarantee its sustainability for future generations.

The commissioning of the Lot 2 Water Supply Project marks another major step in expanding access to potable water, anticipated to boost economic activities, promote better sanitation, and improve public health outcomes.
