Hon Victor Bala Kona, a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, has passed away. He breathed his last in the early hours of Sunday August 27, 2023 in Abuja following a brief illness.
A family source said that Chief Bala Kona, has been in a London hospital over a complicated heart problem.
The source said, the former state PDP chairman got relieved and returned to Abuja on Wednesday, last but his health situation got worsened on Friday, where he was rushed to one of the Abuja hospital’s where he died at the hours of Sunday, 27, August 2023.
According to a press release issued by Hon Emmanuel Bello, the Special Adviser Media and Digital Communication to Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, confirmed the passing of Hon Bala Kona and expressed the sorrow felt over his departure.
The statement further recognized him not only as a political figure but also as a father and devoted family man. Hon Bala Kona’s significance in history is secure and will always be held in high esteem.
His demise comes at a time when his extensive experience and knowledge are most dearly needed.
Governor Agbu Kefas conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Bala Kona’s family and all those affected by this profound and irreparable loss.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the PDP in the state, Andeta’rang Irammae, released a statement expressing the party’s grief over the news of the former Chairman’s passing and offering prayers for his soul.
The deceased had served as the Chairman of the party from March 2012 to August 2020. During his tenure, he tirelessly contributed to the party’s growth and its consistent leadership presence in the state.
Bala Kona handed over the party’s leadership to Kefas before resigning to contest the governorship position in the state under the PDP’s banner, which he won.
