The senator also spoke on other national issues that is of public importance including the removal of subsidy from fuel he urged the electorate to remain steadfast with the APC government.

Senator Eze defended the President’s record in office, asserting that Tinubu inherited a nation in distress—marked by economic stagnation, insecurity, and systemic decay spanning decades.

“People forget that the rot in Nigeria didn’t start in two years. The President met a distressed economy and has taken bold, sometimes painful decisions to reposition the country,” he said.

Subsidy Removal: A Difficult but Necessary Step
Senator Eze highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy as one of the administration’s most significant achievements. He described the decision as tough but necessary to avoid economic collapse.

“The subsidy removal created fiscal space. States and local governments now receive four to five times what they used to. This has enabled investments in roads, railways, and other legacy projects that were previously impossible,” Eze noted.

He also said the funds saved from subsidy removal have helped boost worker salaries and critical infrastructure nationwide.

Infrastructure and Competence
The senator lauded President Tinubu’s choice of ministers, particularly in the Ministries of Works and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for driving visible progress in infrastructure.

“Look at Abuja today—you’ll be proud to be Nigerian. The roads, flyovers, and mass transit projects show that competent people are finally being placed in key positions. It’s no longer about political favours,” he stated.

Tackling Inflation and Food Insecurity
On rising inflation and food scarcity, Eze blamed part of the crisis on sabotage by unscrupulous individuals hoarding subsidised goods and smuggling food across borders. He called on citizens to act patriotically and cooperate with government initiatives.

“Government can’t do everything. We need citizens who are honest and committed to national progress. Sabotage only deepens our problems,” he warned.

Legislative Oversight and Democratic Growth
The Senator also defended the National Assembly’s role, describing the 10th Senate as a “corrective Senate” focused on reforms, including a tax reform bill aimed at eliminating double taxation and easing burdens on everyday Nigerians.

“People say we don’t challenge the executive. But effective governance isn’t about confrontation. It’s about balance. The President respects our independence and listens to input when necessary,” he said.

He acknowledged that Nigeria’s democratic journey post-June 12 is still evolving but said progress has been made, especially with electoral reforms such as electronic accreditation to curb malpractice.
