Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for introducing what he described as bold and transformative reforms in Nigeria’s downstream sector.

Speaking ahead of the Gastech 2025 Conference in Milan, Italy, Jarigbe said the policy direction of the present administration has restored investor confidence, unlocked fresh opportunities in the energy market, and enhanced flexibility in product pricing.

“The innovative reforms of President Tinubu’s administration have repositioned the downstream sector, making it more attractive to investors and opening new opportunities for growth,” he stated.

The lawmaker, who represents Cross River North, is leading Nigeria’s official delegation to the four-day global energy summit, accompanied by the Minister of State for Gas, the Minister of State for Industry, billionaire businessman Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited.

Gastech, one of the world’s foremost energy platforms, focuses on natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, and emerging climate technologies. Nigeria’s strong participation this year underscores the administration’s commitment to repositioning the country as Africa’s hub for gas development and energy transition.

Senator Jarigbe has played a pivotal role in driving policy reforms and attracting investments into Nigeria’s gas sector. Under his leadership, Cross River State has been earmarked for the establishment of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station and an LNG Processing Plant projects expected to generate jobs, stimulate industry, and enhance energy security.

Officials say his mission in Milan is centered on strengthening international partnerships, showcasing Nigeria’s gas opportunities, and driving foreign direct investment into the nation’s energy landscape.
