The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has inaugurated the new Management team of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC). The new Management team consists of Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Kabir Sabo Katata, Executive Director (Operations).

During the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Edun emphasized the crucial role the NDIC plays in the nation’s march to economic stability and prosperity as a component of the financial safety-net. He charged the new Management team to bring their diverse wealth of experience to bear on their new assignment, assuring them of the Ministry’s full support in the task ahead.
Responding on behalf of the Management team, Mr. Sunday expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their appointment. He assured the Honourable Minister of the readiness of the Management team to live up to expectations in the discharge of their duties. Background of the CEO/MD
Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday is a seasoned financial expert with over 30 years of regulatory and supervisory experience. He has a strong background in central banking, having spent 24 unbroken years in banking supervision with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). His expertise spans corporate governance, risk management, and compliance, making him well-suited to lead the NDIC.
Background of Executive Director (Operations)
Dr. Kabir Sabo Katata is a quantitative energy strategist and computational finance expert with strong power trading and risk management experience. He has over 28 years of experience in designing and managing innovative systems in multiple industries, including finance and government. Dr. Katata’s expertise in sophisticated financial optimization and modern statistical techniques will be invaluable to the NDIC.
