Wife of Niger state Governor Fatima Bago has called for strong awareness and collaboration to curb the dangers associated with unregulated and crude methods of mining in Nigeria to avert unnecessary loss of lives and properties of innocent citizens
The Governors wife made the call while disbursing Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s one hundred million naira donation to families of dynamite explosion at Sabon Pegi in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger state.

Fatima Bago while urging residents to desist from stockpiling harmful objects that can kill or injure people asserted that she intends to partner with the ministries of solid minerals, Women Affairs humanitarian affairs and disaster management to properly sensitize, educate and inform Nigerlites on the hazards of unregulated mining which has brought about not only drop in school enrollment but other social menaces while stressing that all hands must be on deck to achieve the goal.
She also assured the people of the area that the administration of Governor Umar Bago will continue to prioritize the welfare of Nigelites, hence appreciated the nation’s First Lady for coming to the aid of Sabon Pegi community over the unfortunate mining explosion that occurred last month.
Earlier the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs Ahmed Baba Suleiman Yunu appreciated the efforts of the state governor and that of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, stating that the effort was timely due to the disaster that occurred.
Meanwhile , In his remarks Mashegu local government council chairman Umar jibrin igade reassured the state government that preventive measures would be put in place to avoid any further disaster within and out side the communities.
Also,Niger state government under the leadership of governor Mohammed umaru Bago has redeemed his financial pledges to the victims.
Items distributed are bags of 50kg Rice, maize, salt, vegetable oil, mattresses and blankets.
