In fulfillment of its promise to connect the rural areas to the city, the Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike has flagoff the construction of another 15 km road segment from Abuja lokoja way, called A2 to Pai community, to be completed in six months.

On the occasion, Wike in response to the request of Etsu Kwali, also directed that the Chief of Staff tell Mandate Secretary for Education FCTA to visit and assess the Science Technical School in KWALI area Council for upgrade.

“Chief of Staff, tell the Mandate Secretary Education to go to the Technical College and see what we can do to make the people of the Kwali happy.” Wike ordered.

The FCTA under Wike led Administration had earlier began the construction of 18km A1 road stretch from Pai to Gomani community, making the entire road stretch a total of 33km.

Wike explained that what President Tinubu is trying to achieve through the opening up of roads, and other amenities in rural communities, was to ensure that basic infrastructures are provided for the rural dwellers to be comfortable, enhance connectivity of satellite towns to the City Center to bridge the gap of disconnect .

“Some few months ago, when we came here, we came to Pai to Gomani to flag off that route. On our way going to that place, I was asking question, what happened here? Why is there no road?

“The people going to that area must pass through this place. How will they feel? We will not allow it, we will come and flag off this road so that as the other contractor is working from Pai to Gomani, this contractor will work from A2 to Pai. And that is why we are here today.

“Abuja was created since 1976 and it has been a total disconnect between the city centre and the satellite towns…With the Renewed Hope Agenda, what the President is doing through us is to connect the satellite towns to the main city, so that you don’t have to say, let me go and stay in the city.

“By the time we provide water to the satellite towns and good roads, we will be talking about having positive impact on governance. And I believe by the time we put solar lights on this road, it will look like a city.

“Be assured that under Mr. President’s tenure, every promise we have made, every project we have started, we will complete all of them. We are not going to abandon any project at all.” Wike assured.

The Minister tasked the Zeberced company handling the project to employ the people while executing the jobs, saying” The whole essence of this job we are doing is also to create employment. So, please work with the community people, work with the youth, work with the traditional rulers so that we have a smooth sail of this project.”

Earlier, the Etsu Kwali, Luka Ayedo Nizassan who showered praises on Wike as an Heavens- Gift -to -Humanity, among other request appealed to the FCT Minister to intervene in upgrading Kwali Technical Science College, and the bill to convert Mathematical center in Kwali to a degree awarding institution. s

“We gave you the title ” Kauran Kwali”… Today we will add a name to the names you have. An the name I have chosen is in my dialect “Shegansa- meaning Heavens – Shares -Opportunities”…You have shown and proven to us that good governance is the best thing that can happen to us as citizens” Nizassan said.

In their contributions, the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT, Sen. Salihu Mustapha and Vice Chairman, House Committee on FCT and Ancillary Matters, Peter Akpanke said when it comes to Wike, what was happening was not strange to them as they were used to him doing such things that earned him the appellation Mr. Project.
