The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) chapel, Comrade Ngozi Ufomba, has praised the Abia Media Day project team for successfully organising a recognition award ceremony for media practitioners, especially proprietors of various indigenous media outfits, in the State.

Comrade declared this in a statement issued in Abuja, the nation’s capital, on Tuesday.
The award ceremony, which held in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, was part of the maiden edition of the Abia Media Day project themed ‘Celebrating the Voice of Abia, Empowering the Future of Media’.
At the event, Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, urged journalists to always uphold truth amid challenges.
According to Comrade Ufomba, the ceremony was a testament to the impact of the media in shaping society.
Further thumbing up the project team, the NUJ chairman expressed satisfaction that it had done well in recognizing major players who have made significant positive impact in media practice and provided guidance to the people of Abia state to make informed decisions in all spheres of human endeavor.
According to her, the award beneficiaries were deserving of the garlands as every indigene of Abia state could testify to their numerous contributions to the growth and development of the state.
Among the award recipients were former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu,who is the Executive Chairman/Founder of The Sun Newspapers group; Senator Austin Akobundu, representing Abia Central; Ukeagu of Rapid FM, Umuahia; Chief Raymond Nkemdirim of Flo FM, Umuahia, Igbere, Bende; Sir Godfrey Ohuabunwa of Family Love; Bishop Sunday Onuoha of Vision Africa and Mazi Okoroafor of Zik FM.
Others are Hon. Eziuche Ubani of Magic FM; Prince Paul Ikonne of Enyimba FM; Ambassador Uche Ogbuagu of Real FM; Bro. Emma Okorie of Rhema FM, Aba; Mr Ifeanyi Okali, ABN News; and Comrade Emenike Iroegbu of AfNews.
The Abia Media Day project was organized by all media blocs in the State. These comprise the NUJ; Radio,Television Theatre Workers and Allied Workers Union (RATTAWU); Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN).
FCTA NUJ chairman, Ufomba, hails from Abia State and keen followers say she is doing a great job in the media profession in the nation’s capital.
