2023 Guber : PLWDs in Imo Endorse PDP’s Candidate, Anyanwu

  • Urges Other Guber Hopeful to Emulate PDP Flag Bearer

Ahead of the November 11, 2023 Governorship election in Imo, members of the association of Persons Living with Disability in the state have endorsed the PDP standard bearer, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu as their sole candidate in the forthcoming poll.

The group took this decision weekend shortly after the Thanksgiving Service of the PDP Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu at St Columba Catholic Church, Amaimo Ikeduru.

In a unanimous endorsement, leader of the group and erstwhile Special Assistant to Imo state Government, Hon Ndubuisi Opara said that his members resolved to rally round the PDP Candidate, Senator Anyanwu after observing the present APC administration in the state does not have any programme for people living with disability.

Hon Opara recalled that his members were fairly treated with respect during the PDP administration in the state, and vowed to resist any attempt by the APC government to come through the back door to retain power.

According to them, as a result of the neglect of people living with disability in the state, majority of their members who ordinarily would have survived societal challenges if a human-faced administration was on board painfully lost their lives.

He added that the continued wanton killings, kidnappings, political tension and economic quagmire in the state affected their members adversely, regretting that Governor Uzodinma’s led APC government is doing noting to curb the menace.

While thanking the PDP flag bearer, Senator Anyanwu for standing with them when every notable leader in the state deserted them, also called on those willing to change the ugly narratives to emulate the party’s Gubernatorial candidate.

Hon Opara noted that Senator Anyanwu is the first person to donate a new brand vehicle to them, assisted their members to undertake marriage rites, pointing out that since 2017 they identified with him, he has not failed in all his promises.
