Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Minister of State for Health and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency, Barr. Joseph Ekumankama, has called on the people of Edda to support all APC candidates in the elections.
Ekumankama made the call during the 2026 New Yam celebration of the Edda clan held in Lagos, where he joined other prominent sons and daughters of the clan to celebrate their cultural heritage.
Prominent Edda indigenes, including Prince Ugorji Ama-Oti, Chief Julius Ama-Oji, and Dr Onuoha Ikwou Nnachi, among others, accompanied the Dr House of Representatives candidate.
Ekumankama commended the sons and daughters of Edda for preserving their cultural heritage and maintaining the tradition of coming together annually to celebrate the New Yam Festival.
He promised that, if elected in 2027, he would work towards bringing meaningful development and a new lease of life to the people of Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency.
The former minister also urged the people to remain united and vote across the board for APC candidates, saying the administration of President Bola Tinubu at the federal level and Governor Francis Nwifuru in Ebonyi State had embarked on programmes and projects aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
He said, “The time has come for Edda people to remain united as one cherished entity and work for their well-being by voting across board in the forthcoming general elections.”
According to him, the emergence of APC candidates at various levels in 2027 would help sustain and facilitate the completion of ongoing projects and attract more development to Ebonyi State and the Southeast.
Ekumankama further said his experience as a former minister and his relationships with relevant stakeholders would be deployed to attract opportunities and development to his constituents if elected.
He assured the people of Afikpo/Edda that, if given the opportunity to represent them in the Green Chamber, he would work to ensure that the constituency receives what he described as its fair share of federal opportunities and development.
