The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Uchenna Igwe, has charged town union presidents, management committee members, ward councillors and the newly appointed 1,710 Executive Assistants (EAs) to Governor Francis Nwifuru to work towards ensuring the victory of all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Igwe gave the charge on Wednesday during a meeting with the political appointees and community leaders in Abakaliki, where he urged them to mobilise support for Governor Nwifuru and other APC candidates at all levels. He called on the appointees to demonstrate loyalty to the party by working collectively to secure 100 per cent victory for the APC in the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.
The commissioner cautioned against supporting the governor while rejecting other candidates nominated by the party, stressing that such a position was inconsistent with party loyalty.“You cannot love His Excellency, the Governor, and dislike the people he has anointed to contest under our party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State,” he said.
Igwe urged the appointees to take the message of party unity to their respective wards and communities, insisting that the APC must remain united ahead of the elections. He also emphasised the importance of voter registration and possession of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), urging the appointees to mobilise their family members, associates and community members to obtain their PVCs and participate in the electoral process.
The commissioner further highlighted some achievements of the Nwifuru administration, including employment opportunities, recruitment of teachers and health workers, scholarship opportunities for Ebonyi indigenes, infrastructure development and the construction of schools across the state.
He also commended the governor for his efforts towards restoring peace in communities affected by prolonged crises and addressing traditional leadership disputes in parts of the state.Igwe called on the political appointees and community leaders to remain committed to the administration’s development agenda, noting that collective support for APC candidates would enable the governor to sustain his programmes.
In his remarks, Mbam Pius, from Igbegu Ward III and coordinator of FON in the area, assured the state government that they would work as a team to deliver all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections. He pledged their commitment to mobilising voters and strengthening the party’s grassroots structures to ensure electoral victory.
The meeting was attended by town union presidents, ward councillors, management committee members, Executive Assistants and other government representatives.
